Meet Pastor Larry Routhe larry

God's grace is abundantly demonstrated in the testimony of the believer and my testimony is no different. Before surrendering my life to Jesus, I grew up in a military home, moving frequently. Born in Hawaii, I have lived in New York, California, Colorado, Kansas, and Nebraska, as well as overseas in Panama and Thule, Greenland. Similar to most people who live without the Lordship of Jesus, I lived according to what pleased me. This led me into a variety of sins, from rebellion to drugs and drug distribution, as well as the licentious lifestyle that usually accompanies the drug culture. Mine was a typical story of a typical person who hasn't dealt with his sin nature.

At 11:45 AM on January 14th, 1978, in a Nazarene Church in Colorado Springs, Colorado, I surrendered to the grace of Jesus and was soundly saved. After graduating from Pittsburgh State University, I headed to Denver, Colorado, where I worked in the printing industry and served the local church. As the business manager for "Shatter the Darkness Ministries," I traveled as the advance man to set up city-wide crusades in the southwestern part of the United States. During that time, I met my wife, Mary, who is a golden girl from Golden, Colorado. We have two children who are now adults, both married and living in North Carolina.

In 1987, we moved to North Carolina where I continued to work in the printing industry and we continued to serve the local church. Since moving to North Carolina, I have served as associate pastor in two area churches and have received credentials from two different denominations. I have also assisted in two church plants prior to planting Christian Community of Fuquay. Most recently, Mary and I served Calvary Chapel of Cary as home fellowship leaders and leaders of the college and career group. I was also an elder there and Mary served in the women's ministries. I graduated from Heritage Bible College and am a recent graduate of Ambassador's Academy (The Way of the Master). Mary and I are both trained "Precept" teachers.

On February 14, 2007, Mary and I opened our home for a Wednesday evening Bible study. God rewards faith and He has blessed the little Bible study with a wonderful group of people who love Jesus. In November of 2007 we increased the ministry to begin Sunday Morning serves in our home. In 2009, the Lord directed this fellowship to establish itself in the community by moving from our house to a building located near Wake Technical Community College. There, Christian Community seeks to serve the Lord by building up the saints in their faith through worship and the teaching of the Word of God.
If you are in the area and have the time to worship with us, Mary and I would love to meet you and pray with you.

What Does Christian Community of Fuquay Believe?

About the Scripture
WE BELIEVE that the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the Word of God, fully inspired without error in the original manuscripts and are the infallible rule of faith and practice. (2Tim. 3:16; 1Thess. 2:13)
About the Trinity
WE BELIEVE that there is one living and true God, eternally existing in three persons: The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit, equal in power and glory; that this triune God created all, upholds all and governs all and that neither person in the Godhead exists or works separately or independently of the others, but they are not identical as to person. Therefore, because these three persons are in a state of unity, there is but one Lord God Almighty and His Name is one. (Deut. 6:4; Mark 12:29,32; John 1:1-2, 15:26, 17:3, 21,22; Eph. 2:18)
About the Father
WE BELIEVE The Father is an infinite personal Spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power and love; that He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of men; the He hears and answers prayer; that He saves from sin and death all who come to Him through Jesus Christ. (Matt. 6:4, 8, 7:11, 10:20; John 6:44-45)
About Jesus Christ
WE BELIEVE in the deity of God’s only begotten Son, the Lord Jesus Christ (Luke 3:22), conceived by the Holy Spirit (Luke 1:35), in His virgin birth (Matt. 1:23), in His sinless life (Heb. 7:26), in His miracles and teachings (Acts 2:22, 10:38), in His substitutive atoning death (1Peter 2:24), in His bodily resurrection and in His ascension into heaven (Matt. 28:6; Acts 1:9, 10:40) where He perpetually intercedes for the saved (Heb. 7:25). We believe the title ‘Son of God’ belongs to the order of eternity (Phil. 2:9-11; Heb 1:5,8) and the title ‘Son of Man’ to the order of time.
About the Holy Spirit
WE BELIEVE in the Holy Spirit, who came forth from the Father and the Son to convict the world of sin and to regenerate, sanctify, and empower for ministry all who believe in Christ. We believe the Holy Spirit indwells every believer in Jesus Christ and that He is an abiding helper, teacher and guide. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit and in the exercise of all the biblical gifts of the Spirit, according to the grace given to us. (Joel 2:28-29; John 14:16-17, 16:13; Romans 12:6; 1Cor 12:7-11)
About Man & Sin
WE BELIEVE that the natural man is a sinner by nature and choice and, therefore, is under condemnation; that God regenerates by the Holy Spirit those who repent of their sins and confess Jesus Christ as Lord. We believe that Jesus Christ baptizes the seeking believer with the Holy Spirit empowering them for service. (Gen. 3:16-19; Romans 5:12-19)
About the Church
WE BELIEVE in the universal church, the living spiritual body, of which Christ is the head and all regenerated persons are members. (Eph. 1:22-23, 5:23; Col. 1:18)
WE BELIEVE that the Lord Jesus Christ committed two ordinances to the Church:
  1. Water baptism by immersion (Matt. 28:19; Mark 16:16; Acts 8:36-37; Romans 6:3-4), and
  2. The Lord’s Supper, which is open to all believers. (1Cor. 11:24-26).
WE BELIEVE in the laying on of hands for the baptism of the Holy Spirit (Acts 8:17), for ordination of Pastors, Elders and Deacons (Acts 6:5-6, 13:2-3) and for Divine healing (Mark 6:5, Acts 28:2).
About Resurrection and Eternal Judgment
WE BELIEVE in the personal, visible return of Christ to Earth and the establishment of His kingdom. We believe in the resurrection of the body and the final judgment to either eternal life for the righteous or to everlasting punishment of the wicked. (Zech. 14:1-9; Matt. 24:27, 30; Acts 1:11, 10:42; Rev. 1:7; 1Thess. 4:16-17; Matt. 25:46; Rev 20:11-15)
